ABOUT MARC JOSEPH
The Marc Joseph Band began early in 2008 with front man Marc Joseph (rhythm guitar/lead vocals) performing solo shows and inviting other musicians to join him on stage. Musicians came out to the shows to play alongside Marc every Friday night until fate intervened and the pieces of the puzzle began to come together.
Marc Joseph found 19 year old Andy Melo (lead guitar, backing vocals) by his side at every show, shortly followed by David Meffe (Percussion/backing vocals) a talented and charismatic drummer who provided the perfect backbone needed to turn this little jam band into the foundations of an epic trio. It seemed the only thing missing was a bassist. After watching one performance, Dave Ongena (Bass guitar/backing vocals) knew that this was something special and the formation of a quartet was instantaneous, the chemistry was perfect!
The Marc Joseph Band quickly outgrew the smaller bars where hundreds would gather to see an unprecedented variety of high energy cover songs spanning dozens of genres in a unique way that was distinctly their own. The frequency of shows increased rapidly as more and more venues showed interest in this promising band. MJB is a rare group of charismatic, driven, professional musicians with personalities that shine both on and off the stage.
By harnessing the buzz created from their impressive schedule (over 150 shows/year), MJB released their first original album entitled Breathe produced by Sascha Tukatsch, mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki. Their fans were already waiting. The Marc Joseph Band sold out the Toronto Hard Rock Cafe and more than 500 copies of their “Breathe” album on the very first day it was released. This started a chain reaction creating tour opportunities in the USA and MJB headed out to Los Angeles booking several iconic venues (Including The Whisky-A-Go-Go) on their first all original tour in the USA. The Marc Joseph Band executed a well thought out plan with the same tenacity and passion that they have become known for, using cover songs to connect with fans and build demand for their original music.
Currently the band is approaching 200 shows annually remaining self managed, mentoring other artists, and writing/recording new original material for their second album. The Marc Joseph Band has risen to the top of the cover band scene in the Greater Toronto Area, and regularly plays in the USA at several major casinos as well. MJB continuously develops their artistry, stage show, repertoire and musical ability at a rate that most acts can’t even fathom. Each band member seems more driven than the next and together they synergize elevating each other to new heights. The Marc Joseph Band has played shows with Major Label acts such as Hollerado and Walk Off The Earth for crowds in excess of 100,00 people and what makes these feats even more impressive is the fact that MJB is completely independant!

Having started in small bars/clubs, they know the business from the inside out and can now be seen at Corporate Events, Weddings, Casinos, Festivals, Cruises, Private Events etc. Worthy of their 5 star rating on Eventsource, Google Plus, and WeddingWire; whether performing cover songs, original material or a combination of the two, the talent, energy, crowd interaction of their live performance has been described as “Lightning in a Bottle”!
Marc has lived many places but nowhere feels more like home than centre stage. As the hypnotic front man for the band, Marc Joseph takes on lead vocals thrilling fans through every millisecond of his performances.
Coming from a musical family, Marc was surrounded by true musicians from a young age and could quickly recognize talent in others. It all came together in August of 2008 when Marc began hand-picking fellow musicians equally dedicated to being the best and bringing it to the stage night after night. Marc hosted open jams as an outlet to perform original material, laying the foundation of what was to become “The Marc Joseph Band”. He’s rocked it out on stage before tens of thousands from a young age and has won countless “Battles of the Bands”. A singer and songwriter, Marc’s influences range from classical to pop and from rock to jazz. His covers are unpredictable as Marc flirts with interpretations.
